One Sunday, Double the Blessing

On Sunday, John, Eli, and I hit the road for our first family events of 2013.  I was a little bit apprehensive, but only because it had been several weeks since our last event.  If God taught me anything last year, it is that He is with us wherever we go.  So, in the back of my mind, I knew it was going to be a great day.  We began our day at Elon Baptist Church in Pamplin, VA.  It was a special day for the church because a wonderful dedication was being made.

We were privileged to hear about the many lives that were touched by Peggy Mann.  Because of her passion and love for children, her family and the folks at Elon have created “Peggy’s Clubhouse”.  It is a beautiful, kid-friendly place where children will learn about Jesus!  I couldn’t help but think about how thankful I am for the angels who work with children every day.  John would share with the congregation how Eli was seriously injured at the age of 3.  One of the greatest comforts that I had at that time while Eli lay unconscious in the hospital, was knowing that he knew Jesus.  When I couldn’t comfort him, I knew that his friend Jesus would.

At the beginning of the year, Eli had asked if he could write a new message.  About halfway through the year last year, Eli had begun speaking a few words before singing his song.  He takes this opportunity very seriously.  Last year he wanted his message to tie in with John’s message.  This year, John told him that he should write whatever God puts on his heart.  So, Eli did just that.  He prayed about it, wrote it, and practiced it.

Eli sings, “I Will Rise”.

John and Eli shared their hearts.

Later that day, we headed to another church nearby in Rustburg, VA.  We had been invited to join them for dinner before sharing our message with New Hope United Methodist Church.  Again, John and Eli shared from their hearts.  The year is off to a great start!

Wow, Tricia, Eli has gotten so much taller since I saw him last year! I guess that happens, huh? I know you must be so proud of him too. God bless.
