I went on a field trip today to CBS6 News to be on TV I got up at 5:00 am because we had to leave at 6:30 am. We were going to be on a live TV show called, “Virginia This Morning”. When we left the house, it was still dark and really freezing outside. We drove to Richmond to be on the show. When we got there, Morgan was the first one we met. Morgan made sure we were at the right place at the right time. She took us to the “green room” where we hung out until it was time to start. I tried out every chair in the room. I kept putting my hand on the trash can, and my Mom and Dad said, “Stop putting your hand on the trash can!”
Morgan came to get us for practice. We went in to the studio room where they film the show. The Floor Director, Demetrius, said that I could call him D.J. since he would play my music for me! D.J. clipped a microphone to my shirt so that people could hear me. Then he played my music so I could practice my original song called, “God You Are Our King”. I wasn’t nervous about singing. I knew that God was with me!
Then we went back to the “green room” to rest until it was time to do our thing. We were going to be the last people on the show. We were able to watch the show as it was happening on a TV in the “green room”. Morgan came to get us when it was our turn to be on the show. First, I sang my song. I rocked it out! It was awesome!
Cheryl Miller interviewed us about our ministry. She is a news reporter who is well known in Richmond. She was also one of the reporters who told about my accident when it happened ten years ago. During the interview, Cheryl asked me, “I hear you like Rascal Flatts. Is that right?”
I told her, “Yes! I love Rascal Flatts! They’re my favorite country band on the whole planet!” Daddy talked a little bit about our ministry and Momma talked a little bit about homeschooling me.
After the interview, we took some pictures and then we left. I can’t wait to go on another field trip! – Eli
